UPDATE

My dream is to have a facility where I can go and be a part of something bigger, with others like me in my community. Where we can explore our different creative expressions together to grow and expand, Whether it is just to have fun or to learn something new or possibly to try out an idea for a new product, company, art project, etc, this would be the place to do it. It would be a safe, clean, and respectable establishment where I could feel proud to bring my little ones. It would even have a child care center with people who actually like kids and want to help them develop in a healthy and supportive way.

For technologists: it would have a lab for testing different scenarios, equipment and technologies and different teaching groups. The whole facility would be immersed in technology, from access badges, to recording systems, possibly all environmental elements too. It might even allow for bands in certain practice rooms to be heard over a speaker system throughout the facility. There would be wired and wireless networks, built and supported by the members of the facility for the members of the facility as well as the community in some way(s). It would be a safe place to setup, break, and troubleshoot all kinds of technology solutions for the sake of learning things for real, unlike many boot camps out there. You would be surrounded by member technologists of all experience levels for the purpose of better facilitating that learning. There would be rooms with large white boards for creating and documenting different ideas and because this would be a real production environment, with real production users with data, you could put it on your resume too. Ideally it would be a place that would be a welcome and accredited attribute on anyone's job search.

For artists: there would be all types of supplies for creating and rooms for collaborating and sharing. There would be art projects created by the members for the members for all types of reasons: to test and idea out, to help to propose a new "mural" or "art installation" to the city, or to augment the decor in the facility. Anything to get and keep your creative juices flowing.

For musicians: there would be practice rooms, with or without instruments equipped with recording equipment and capabilities for song creation and critique or making a demo to promote yourselves. The recording studio would be a "learning" type with room for interns and assistance, but that actually provides real opportunities to touch and help. The facility and staff would even be able to assist in finding work in that field or promoting yourself in other ways, band or alone.

For both artists & musicians: there would be a small venue for the purpose of self exploitation/expression. Whether you are a band looking to perform live more often or someone who wants to read their poetry aloud to live people for the first time. You could charge for the show and support the facility and earn a buck or open for free so as to provide a cheap easy bit of entertainment for your community, whichever you choose.

For all Technologists,Artists, & Musicians: There would be workshops by professionals and visits by businesses and communities in search of upcoming IT staff, artists, and musicians. There would be a safe and comfortable environment to learn to play well with others like you; this especially helpful for IT guys. Most important, this environment would be bigger than any one individual member, a consciousness, if you will, of other like and different minded people. There would be meeting rooms for recovery groups, rooms for exercise equipment, a small kitchen for preparing yourself a snack or a coffee shop food whose purchases support the facility (and community and environment; think locally grown organic products).

My dream is to be a part of a facility and community center like this one or better. If there is something out there close to this, I am all ears. I want badly for this to exist and feel overwhelmed by how to make this happen. I know it will take time, and money, but I will get there, somehow. I also, will not use unsecured debt to get there, which some might say is impossible, but I believe it can happen. This is spiritually aligned.
